Spanish-American War Patriotic Cover Collection, 1898, approximately 350 mostly red & blue with many scarce designs including five franked with foreign stamps (China to Canada, Germany (card mailed within Germany), Great Britain, India with C.E.F. overprints (part cover) and Portugal, one used from Alaska, nine covers and one card with all-over flags (2 covers with text on reverse), and others with all-over designs, many with contents including letters or commercial advertising letters and such, very minor duplication, also includes 7 staging covers (4 with letters) sent before deployment, few faults as always on cover lots of this age and size, generally Fine to Very Fine, fully imaged online, ex J. Leonard Diamond, one of the premier collectors of Spanish American War postal history.
In the 1970's, Robert Grant authored a few books of important collections, one of which was Len's. It is possible that some of the covers in this lot were featured in the Grant book, which for some reason, are extremely difficult to find.(Image)
