image Portugal, Exceptional High-End Mint + Used Collection with Key Singles + Sets, 1853-1959, A collection not to be missed, put together by an advanced collector who had an eye for quality and rarity, it is in two sections, the first in a binder on Minkus pages neatly mounted begins with Scott numbers used unless noted: 3 ($1700.), 5 ($1500.), 6-8 ($312.), 9-24 ($1503.), 25-33 ($1836.), 34-51 ($2850.). The quality of the early issues is far better than the norm with most of the imperforates having 4 margins, nice cancels and fresh. The owner's Scott from the first two pages totaled $5680. The current 2024 value is $9701. The collection is very complete with few missing. Continuing on are 79-96 mixed mint + used ($1291.),97-109 plus extras ($609.), 132-146 m + u less 145 ($1634.), 185-198 mint ($546.), 298u mint ($575.), 346-376 mint ($348.), 377-397 mint ($229.), 528-602 all mint ($1354.), 586a mint ($575.), 602a mint ($115.), plus later issues mint to 1957 with souvenir sheets, Air Post C1-C10 mint ($347.). The second section is mainly key singles and sets on Vario stock pages. We note that it includes mint 7a ($825.), 9 mint signed Schlegel ($700.), 16 mint ($1400.), 23 mint ($475.), 31 mint ($400.), plus 7 Michel listed 19th century used better singles at 1425 Euros, 97-109 mint ($2000.), 398-421 mint ($199.), plus much more including souvenir sheets 586a N.H. ($1100.), 594a N.H. ($450.), 602a N.H. ($180.), plus more all N.H. including 614a, 637a, 661a and 701a. The condition is nice throughout with the quality at Fine to Very Fine or better with only a few faults and some early without gum.
