image Collection of mostly Newfoundland mint stamps, 1860-1947, virtually complete for regular issues, some never hinged, all in clear mounts on Harris pages in a binder, beginning with an original gum Sc. #1, progressing into the 1860 issues with 11, 11A and 12A, then 1861 issues from 15A to 23 (a few of which may be spurious), the Cents (1864-1896) are a mix of mint and used, with the majority mint from the 1897 Cabot issue onwards, a brief selection of highlights include Sc. #75 (Type A) and 76 (Type B) 2c overprinted provisional, a nearly complete set of the Guy issue, Trail of the Caribou full basic set, followed by all four of the 1920 Provisional Overprints, including the narrow-spaced bars on the 15c Seals, quite complete from there through Confederation, the Airmails are represented by C2 and C3, the Alcock & Brown and Halifax flights, plus C6-11, plus the Labrador issue and the Dornier Do-X overprinted issue of 1932. BNA is represented by British Columbia #8, New Brunswick #1 (three margins, used) plus 6-11, and Nova Scotia 2, 3 and 4 (these mixed condition, few margins) plus 8-13. P.E.I. has #1 (faulty) and 4-16. image Collection of used Canada and British North America, 1851-1977, with hundreds of stamps in black mounts in a Minkus album, beginning with a few Pence issues and a basic set of Decimals (faults on most of these), then a basic set of Large Queens, plus varieties (frame re-entries and watermark on #25, these all identified by the owner on the album pages shown in the online photos), followed by a complete set of Small Queens plus varieties, a complete set of Jubilees (½c to $5, c.v. $4,010), then complete through the Québec Tercentenary issue, noting many dated cancels throughout the early issues. From the Admirals (including singles of all the coils, plus a part perforate block of the 1c orange) through the end of the period, there are very few empty spaces, and some varieties (including a "Broken X" on the Regina Grain Exhibition overprint) and coils throughout. Back of the book is well represented with Airmail, Special Delivery, Postage Due and overprinted Officials, both O.H.M.S. and G. We note a fine or better set of Registered Letter Stamps (F1-F3), complete Postage Dues and nearly complete War Tax, missing only the MR2Di, as well as Officially Sealed OX1 and OX3. The BNA portion of the collection includes British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and P.E.I., and a good run of Newfoundland from #1 through the end with several Air Mails and Postage Due. image 1859-2009, collection of mint and used stamps and souvenir sheets, with thousands of items in clear mounts and hinged in two Dominion (CWS) binders, the first binder with mostly used classics with good catalogue value, including several Decimal issues (Sc. #14, 15, 18, etc.), followed by Large Queens (x7, we note two 15c with original gum), then a complete basic set of Small Queens to the 50c Widow Weeds, very few gaps from thereon, noting mint stamps (fine 5c, 10c and 20c Québec Tercentenary; #139 and 140 Admiral Provisionals) and so on through the George V and George VI issues, are about half mint and used from 1950 onwards, with more mint than used from the 1970s onwards, with the carefully counted mint totaling $489 face value, the second with blank pages from 2000 to 2011, a great way to start a Canadian collection, or a good source of inventory for dealers or postage users, overall fine or better. The four covers include a 1c and 2c to Newport NS; a 3c from Halifax, NS, Nov.18.1869 to New Glasgow, NS; a 6c brown on a Jan.4.1869 cover from Richmond Hill, C.W. to Yorkshire Village in New York; and a 12½c blue on a Jan.29.1869 mourning cover via packet from Sherbrooke, C.E. to Perthshire, Scotland. This group requires further study and is unchecked by us for watermarks and Duckworth paper types, typical small imperfections and perf flaws, an overall fine group, ideal for the specialist. The collection begins with a 2c green on thin paper and two 15c Large Queens (both NH, one with gum skips), then a few Small Queens (with a fine 20c Widow Weeds and fine-very fine 50c Widow Weeds), and Jubilees (½c to 5c NH plus varieties, 6c, 8c and 15c-50c l.h., plus $2 and $4 fine appearing), Victoria Maple Leafs and Numerals (no 8c or 10c) and l.h. or NH, and mostly fine-very fine, then Provisionals and Map stamps, Edward VII complete to the 50c (f-vf, hinged) and an owner-identified 94i "deep olive green", full set of the Québec Tercentenary issue (the ½c, 1c and 2c with hairlines or re-entries), a basic set of Admirals, with owner-identified shades, (incl. three 5c violets and two 50c) and a complete set of coil singles, imperforates and War Tax (including War Tax overprints, MR2a, b and c), a lovely f-vf lightly hinged 50c Bluenose, 1930 Pictorial 13c with re-entry a Broken X on the 1933 Regina overprinted issue and a re-entry on the 50c Parliament Buildings in Victoria, better QEII-era including a page with a single and a block of four of the 6c black Centennial printed on gum side, back of the book including 2c and 5c Registration (the latter NH, right wing margin) and owner-identified Special Delivery stamps E1, E1i (x2, one with partial inscription in the top margin) and E1ii, overall fine to very fine and nice, fresh colours throughout, a collection that deserves close examination.
