Paul König of the Deutschland, asking him if the letter had actually been carried on a submarine. Included with this cover is König's handwritten response (and the cover in which it was mailed), datelined Hamburg, 25 May 1917, confirming that said letter had indeed been carried by submarine from the United States to Germany.
