Yvert  182-7, 208-10, 211-4, 215-6 , PA 1-5, Taxe 22-31Three examples of every stamps distributed by the UPU during this period.  The stamps were affixed in Mauritania to ledger pages and handstamped SPECIMEN / COLLECTION / MAURITANIA.  150 stamps. The first photo is from a page which size 380mm x 274mm (the ledger page was just slightly longer) and bears at the bottom a hand-written notation and signature "87 (quatre vingt sept) timbres St Louis 19/1/51. An audit was made January 19th, 1951 The second photo shows part of another ledger page with number 135 in blue and and "Margin inscription: Bulletin No 1 du 19 janvier 1947 An article in 5 parts was written about the UPU specimen in the French Colonies Facebook group in 2025 by Pierre Wertheimer.  A first for these very interesting items!  A unique assemblage from the Mauritania UPU Specimen Archive which includes the "Vichy" issues Scott 296-7, B10A-C, even though they were noy placed on sale in Togo, samples were sent by the UPU to Mauritania! The page on the first picture has been folded horizontally (not affecting any stamps), a brown stain at bottom affecting one stamp is mentioned for accuracy otherwise VF. Of course, guaranteed genuine, but we will pay the expertisation and certification of the these stamps if they are sent to J. F Brun in Paris. Estimate $2,750 - 3,500. (Image1)
