Post Office and postmarked "St. Thomas, 30/12 1871" cds with domestic postage paid in cash, cover affixed with combination franking of United States 10¢ brown (150) tied by circle of wedges and Great Britain, 4d vermilion, pl. 12 (Z45), sent on U.S. steamship to New Orleans where "Steamship" circular handstamp struck, eventually transported to Rio de Janeiro where "C83" barred oval ties 4d, then carried via British packet onwards to Buenos Aires, blue crayon "2/11" rating for 2s11d inland postage due, internally docketed as received on Jan. 27th; some creases and toning with some reinforcing, a Very Fine and rare use,ex-Koester, Arnold, signed Alberto Diena.
