image Russia-Imperial Silver Rouble & Poltina Type Group, c.1849–1899, Russia, a lot of 9 silver coins, A well-balanced group of nine Russian Imperial silver coins, spanning the mid-19th from 1849 to 1900, consisting of: an early Nicholas I 1 Rouble dated 1852 (???) with crowned-wreath obverse and double-headed eagle reverse, VF; a desirable Nicholas I Poltina (½ Rouble) dated 1849 (???) of the same design family, Choice XF or better; and seven Nicholas II portrait roubles dated 1896, 1897 (two examples), 1898, 1899 (two examples). The earlier pieces show natural patinated silver surfaces with honest circulation, grading VG to VF; the Nicholas II issues range Fine to VF with fully readable legends and typical even wear. Collectively the group offers an excellent range of mid-19th to WWI-era Imperial types (9). (Image)
