1919, 2c Knox Martin Air Post (Scott C1), blue flight cancels, large margins, fresh color on bright white paper, Very Fine. Only 180 examples of the 2c stamp were overprinted for use on this experimental flight from Barranquilla to Puerto Colombia on June 18, 1919, signed twice including Sanabria. Scott $1,200.
According to the footnote in the Scott catalog, "From 1920 to 1932, the internal airmail service of Colombia was handled by the Compania Colombiana de Navegacion Aerea (1920) and the Sociedad Colombo-Alemana de Transportes Aereos (SCADTA; 1920-1932); these organizations, under government contracts, operated and maintained their own post offices and issued stamps which were the only legal franking for airmail service during this period, both in the internation and international airmails."(Image)
