CROWNED CIRCLE COVER 1848 - Folded blue cover mailed from St. John's to Quebec, the Crowned Circle struck in red on front, cover with addressee partially excised and couple folds near bottom, prepaid 4 pence to Halifax where it was rated a further 1sh8p collect for the inland postage to Quebec, clear May, 16, 1848 dispatch on reverse and oval May 28 Halifax transit plus partial red Quebec May 31 receiver, a nice example of the rarely seen Newfoundland Crowned Circle handstamp on cover, F-VF (SG#CC1 £1,000 = $1,800) (Image1)
