344 image2 BRITISH POW CARDS from JAPAN 1942-1944, both from seaman Alan Morris from the British merchant ship "WILLESDEN" that was sunk APR-1-1942 in the Indian Ocean by the German Raider "THOR", he was rescued as a POW and transferred to the German ship "REGENSBERG" before his delivery to YOKOHAMA on SEP-1942 where he and 24 other POW's were paraded through the streets as the first WWII POW's held in Japan, he was then sent to the Tokyo-No.1 POW Camp until his release in 1945, the lot includes two 1942-1943 letters from the British ship owner addressed to his wife announcing the ship loss and uncertain crew status, she got the first indication that her husband was alive when she received the first POW card on JUN-4-1943, the second card was received MAR-3-1944, rare items retailing over $500 US ($720 CDN), F-VF est (Image) (image 344b) (image 344c) (All Images)
