1912 CANADIAN NAVY’S FIRST SUBMARINER, letter from Cadet Officer William
(Willie) Maitland-Dougall posted at HALIFAX on OCT17'1912 and addressed to UCLUELET-BC, during this time he was a cadet at the newly-established Royal Naval College, he later became the first RCN Submariner and the youngest RCN Sub Commander,
he was Captain of the Submarine “D3” when it was sunk from “friendly fire” by the French Airforce on MAR12'1918, he and the entire crew were lost with no press release of the circumstances to date by the RCN, it was even years after the
