1531 imageGB.QUEEN VICTORIA - 'BEFORE & AFTER THE STAMP COMMITTEE' special Westminster 3- page padded display folder contains 33 stamps from the time before (values to 1s), the 1883-84 lilac and greens set (who's somewhat monotonous appearance enraged the public and created fear in government around loss of revenue due to mistakes) and the glorious solution - the 1887 so-called 'Jubilee' stamps. All used, cat £3000+.

1546 imageGB.QUEEN VICTORIA - 1840 POSTAL NOTICE - REGISTRATION OF LETTERS. 1840, December postal notice announcing 'Registration of Letters.' By Command, W. L. Maberly. Announces system of registration is to be adopted on 6 January 1841. The fee of 1s to be paid in cash, and on Foreign, Colonial, or on Ship Letters can only be valid to the Port of despatch. The notice extols the benefits of Money Orders for small amounts of money, that bank notes should be cut in half, the second half not to be dispatched until confirmation that the first has been received, plus much else. A rare & important notice.
