GB.QUEEN VICTORIA - 1849 (1 Sept) stampless env to London endorsed 'To be posted at Dieppe' with letter written on board 'The Favourite' explaining that they are two weeks out of Gravesend in the Bay of Biscay on route to Valparaiso and
have given this letter to a French vessel bound for Dieppe. It appears that the letter was then handed to another vessel as the first postal marking is at Brixham on AU 11 1849, the London receiver of the 13th alongside on reverse. The letter with
manuscript '2' rate (1d foreign mail, 1d local postage). A charming item. Ex Littaur. (Image
