EXTREMELY FINE. A RARE MINT NEVER-HINGED JOINT LINE STRIP OF THE 2-1/2 CENT BUNKER HILL WITH SMALL HOLES.

Scott Catalogue notes this is only known with a Bureau precancel. Scott Retail as joint line pair and two pairs without premium for the precancel gap (Image)

650 nh Image3c Liberty, Wet Printing, Small Holes, from 170 Subject Stickney Press Plates (1057c var). Two joint line strips of five with partial plate no. 25339 at top, Mint N.H. with experimental gum, pencil notation on right stamp on both strips, one leaves a small indent, Fine and rare with fewer than 10 strips recorded, discussed in Scott Stamp Monthly in July 2003 in an article by Ken Lawrence as well as in Lawrence's 2007 book The Liberty Series (pp. 98-99), prior to this discovery it was believed all wet-printed coils had large holes, we have not offered another example since our 2010 sale of the Beutel collection, with 2013 P.S.A.G. and 2004 A.P.S. certificates respectively (Image)
