Substantial collection of mounted and loose documents, extensive range of items highlighted by -1/2p Red, Colonial Revenue (RM1), beautiful bold strike at the bottom right corner of a Boston Evening Post newspaper dated August 23, 1756, interesting contents including letter published regarding William Shirley's recall to England (Shirley was governor of Massachusetts Bay and became commander in chief of North America after Braddock's death), also news reports from around the world, some edge flaws barely affect the stamp, Very Fine strike of this scarce early typographed revenue (Scott Retail $2,500.00), others with values up to $1,250.00, highlights include Nos. RM2, RM4, RM11, RM12, RM46 (two), RM58, RM99, RM100, RM117, RM195, RM400 (faulty), RM451, RM453 and many others, typical flaws to be expected, overall Fine-Very Fine with many clear strikes, the collection has been annotated by the owner with Scott Retail values totaling more than $16,000.00, lot also includes two notebooks of original work by Colin Makepeace that formed the listings in the Scott Catalog, including census data and letters from prominent collectors such as Morton Dean Joyce and Henry Tolman (Image)

Plate no. singles in mounts on stock pages, beginning with RW1 and apparently complete to early 1990's, owner identified the collection as Mint N.H. and a spot check of some of the early issues confirms this, though we did not open every mount, also includes later issues in collector panes of one and a couple plate blocks, some early are Fine-Very Fine, most are Very Fine, a nice clean collection, better than usual for runs of Duck stamps
