V (35), natural interpane and centerline margin at left, each cancelled by red grid and tied by "P.D." in frame on blue folded letter from New Orleans dated May 22, 1861, to Paris, France, indistinct "New York 6 Jun. 1" credit datestamp, blue New Orleans merchant's handstamp, strip with a few short perfs at top, still Very Fine, scarce use of the 10c Type V from Confederate New Orleans to France, at this date it is quite likely this cover was sent from New Orleans to New York by express (a precursor express use), which would explain the absence of New Orleans postmarks (see lot 521) (Image)
