EXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL INDEPENDENT STATE USE OF THE UNITED STATES ONE-CENT 1857 ISSUE ON A CAMEO CORNER CARD COVER.

South Carolina was the first state to secede from the Union, on Dec. 20, 1860. This cover was sent approximately two weeks before South Carolina and five other states formed the Confederacy. Acquired privately by the Kilbournes in 1958 (Image)
