VERY FINE. A RARE AND IMPORTANT COVER DATED DECEMBER 20, 1860, WHICH IS THE DATE SOUTH CAROLINA VOTED TO SECEDE FROM THE UNION BY UNANIMOUS VOTE, PROPELLING THE NATION INTO CIVIL WAR.

On December 20, 1860, a secession convention called by the South Carolina legislature voted unanimously, 169-0, to secede from the United States.
