VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1864 ONE-CENT NUMERAL ON LAID PAPER WITH THE "HA" VARIETY AT LEFT.
The type at left, "HAWAIIAN POSTAGE.", is known in seven stages or states on this plate. This stage shows no trace of the "E" and it is rare with original gum.

FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE 1864 ONE-CENT NUMERAL ON LAID PAPER WITH THE "HA" VARIETY AND DROPPED "E" AT LEFT. ONLY A FEW ARE KNOWN.
The type at left, "HAWAIIAN POSTAGE.", is known in seven stages or states on this plate. This is the Fourth State, showing only the "HA" and "E", with the "E" dropped down in comparison to earlier states.
