Chamberlain (24th Regt., South Wales Borders) to Major Doyle, eventually forwarded to Col. Fagen with Colonel Fagen with Major Doyle's Compliments on outer panel, letter containing historical content regarding troop movements and that General Marley has quitted us and are waiting for his successor, Very Fine and rare Anglo-Nepalese War correspondence, by this time, of the four British commanders, one was dead, General Marley deserted, and two others were essentially inactive at the hands of the Nepalese army (Image)

Complete sheets of 100 printed circa 1941, 2p Black printed on native paper, 4p Dark Green, 8p Red Brown and 16p Purple Brown on imported paper, 4p and 16p with original gum, 4p with large selvage folded over and slightly stuck to back, each folded down center and other creases, Fine-Very Fine, a possibly unique set of these fascinating proofs, due to the outbreak of WWII, Perkins Bacon of London had difficulty getting supplies of stamps to Nepal, these were printed as an attempt to print stamps as supplies were running low, they were obviously unacceptable and were never released (Image)

3497   ImageNEPAL, 1907-1935 Sri Pashupati” Spectacular Essay and Proof Collection. Nearly all neatly mounted and described on exhibit pages, with each of the three Perkin’s Bacon printed issues from 1907 (Scott 26-29), 1930 (Scott 30-37) and 1935 (Scott 38-43), includes a remarkable 26 Die Essays, much of which are die sunk, some with manuscript notations, even incl. the 1930 5r high value, many are slightly affected with burn marks which occurred during the Blitz” on London by the Luftwaffe during World War II as many of the known examples, most of these alone are unique or with very few examples known, plate proofs incl. blocks of four of the 1907 and 1935 Issue, plus additional pairs and blocks of the 1907 Issue (at least six additional sets) and complete sheets of 100 of the 1930 2p and 1935 4p, a few additional unique items are present such as 1907 8p Imperforate Trial Color in Blue Green, 2p Error of Color and printed in Green (issued Color Brown) and signed Holcombe but debated as the issued stamps were perforated 13-1/2 and this is 12-1/2 and 4p and 8p with Service” Specimen Overprints, collection continues with the circa 1940s experimental negative proofs of the 1907 Issue in blocks of four which were printed locally as stocks were running low and there was difficulty in receiving stamps from London due to the outbreak of WWII, issued stamps incl. 1907 2p and 4p large blocks on telegram pieces, a few complete sheets, 1929 5r block of 25, and even six covers which incl. a 1943 registered cover from Kuti, Tibet (entered mails in Tatapani) using both 1907 and 1935 Issues, and more

3498   ImageNEPAL, 1941-46 Sri Pashupati” Locally Printed Native” Issues. Phenomenal collection neatly mounted on informative exhibit pages (some of which are Singer’s original pages), containing over 60 complete sheets between 25-40 with examples of each of the seven denominations printed, each is painstakingly identified by printing accounting to Colin Hepper in Sri Pashupati Issues of Nepal and thus contains a wide variety of printings, shades and varieties and errors incl. imperforates, part-perforated, imperforate between and even the 2c Green error of color (Scott 44a), a number of which are believed to be unique or one of a very few recorded, collection even includes circa 1940s experimental negative proofs of the 1907 Issue in pairs which were printed locally as stocks were running low and there was difficulty in receiving stamps from London due to the outbreak of WWII, additionally there is a small balance of used examples incl. some used on telegrams, as with a collection this size small faults are to be expected
