1631 c ImageBELGIAN CONGO, Vankerkhoven Expedition to the Nile, 1890-93 (Pre-Lado). 10c postal card (Stibbe 4) cancelled by "Boma 3 Sept. 1891" circular datestamps addressed to Edouard Buzon of the "Expedition de Mr. Vankerkhoven, datelined in Boma with Leopoldville transit datestamp, written at the time the expedition was on the River Uele between Bima and Bomokandi, Very Fine and rare, this was one of the largest expeditions ever sent as King Leopold wanted to have access to a Congo-Nile route, a key precursor piece for the Lado collector, with 1987 Belgian Congo Study Circle certificate (Image)
