VERY FINE AND CHOICE. A HANDSOME ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE RARE 1861 ONE-PENNY REDDISH BROWN.

An extremely rare stamp in any condition, but especially difficult to find in this select original gum quality. It is the first such example we have offered since keeping computerized records.

295 ogbl Newfoundland Classic Multiple Balance. 21 unused multiples, ranging in size from a pair to a block of twelve, all with original gum, some stamps (and some entire blocks) are Mint N.H., nearly all with large margins all around, incl. several sheet margins, 1857 Issue with 1p block of four, 1860 Issue with 3p triangular block of four and horizontal block of six, plus two 5p blocks of four, others are 1861 Issue, some color varieties, especially the 1861 5p, Very Fine-Extremely Fine, most of these were part of the well-known Chapin collection, we have catalogued this group as conservatively as possible, as hinged singles and using the cheapest shade in all cases
