VERY FINE. A RARE USAGE OF THE 2-PIASTERS BISECTED DIAGONALLY WHICH WAS AUTHORIZED FOR ONLY A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME IN CAIRO.

While nearing the end of validity of the 1866 Issue, 1 piaster stamps were in critically short supply. Permission was granted for 2 piasters to be bisected in Cairo from July 20-31 and Alexandria from July 16-31. Ex Delta Collection. (Image)
