1279   ImageConfederate Governors' Telegrams, 1861-65. Outstanding collection of more than 40 telegrams organized by state plus a few Southern Express or Southern Telegraph Co. telegrams, the vast majority sent by a Confederate governor, a great many to General P. G. T. Beauregard, of these approximately 15 are initialed with handwritten notes by General Beauregard, a few flaws to be found but this group contains the sound or close to sound governor telegrams from the Born collection (see lot 1280 for the faulty telegrams)

VERY FINE. A RARE AND HISTORICAL COLLECTION OF CONFEDERATE STATES GOVERNOR TELEGRAMS, MANY SIGNED AND WITH NOTES BY THE RECIPIENT, GENERAL PIERRE GUSTAVE TOUTANT BEAUREGARD.

Beauregard, of these approximately 20 are initialed with handwritten notes by General Beauregard, unfortunately all are faulty to a greater or sometimes severe degree, with staining at the edges and more often parts of the interior (nearly all are lacquered onto a type of wax paper), still many of the Beauregard initials and notes are legible, a scarce assemblage despite the condition (Image)
