Two items, first 31mm black Dayton circular handstamp on 1848 buff cover to local recipient, original telegram enclosed, "Pittsburgh, Cincinnati & Louisville Telegraph/ Dayton Office, Corner Main and Third Streets" at top, message "Home tomorrow all well", couple small edge splits, still Very Fine and rare, ex Hahn, second 27mm black "Atlantic Lake & Mississippi Telegraph St. Louis" circular handstamp struck on Jan. 8, 1849 letter from New York to Livermore & Cooley from Mailand Phelps & Co., Very Fine and rare, both of these are unlisted in the 1993 ASCC (Image)

Substantial collection of 65 covers plus an approximately equal number of telegrams, bringing together independent lines intended by Henry O'Rielly (sometime spelled "O'Reilly) as a loose confederation to compete in the western telegraph business, many covers and telegrams with O'Rielly's name, lots of better and rare incl. Atlantic & Ohio ASCC Nos. 105 (faulty at top) and 106 (two), various pictorial designs incl. eagles on covers and Zeus on telegrams, a nice group of nine color embossed O'Rielly corner card covers incl. some sent through the mails, a binder of Illinois & Mississippi Telegraph Co. covers incl. one pictured on page 123 of ASCC, several unlisted designs, some inevitable flaws but most covers are presentable and attractive, an outstanding group which should be reviewed to be appreciated (Image)
