FINE AND RARE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1893 2-CENT ROSE WITH STRONG DOUBLE BLACK PROVISIONAL GOVERNMENT OVERPRINT.

At least two sheets of the 2c Rose were doubly overprinted with Category I strength. A single with a skewed second impression is pictured at www.hawaiianstamps.com, where Fred Gregory notes it is the only one recorded. This stamp was acquired well before World War II and has not been seen in the market for 70+ years. (Image)
