Jun. 10" (1862) circular datestamp on press-printed Danville 5c on Dark Buff Provisional entire (21XU3), addressed to Olin N.C., expertly repaired with sealed tears just into the provisional and on backflap, inside silked

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE USE OF THE DANVILLE PROVISIONAL ENTIRE AFTER THE PERIOD IT WAS VALID FOR POSTAGE.

This is the only example of the Danville provisional entire in the Richard L. Calhoun census with a 5c Typograph stamp. There are only eleven or twelve "valid" provisional uses (all 5c).
