Full margins to clear at bottom, cancelled by one of two strikes of "PAID" handstamp (the strike on stamp is heavily impressed and ties thru the paper), affixed to backflap of lace Valentine cover with matching enclosure, addressed to Miss Julia Suydam at 8 South Warren Street in Brooklyn, sender's notation "Paid", the Valentine enclosure has a love poem written in the same hand and is dated "St. Valentine's Day 1848", the stamp was originally folded around the edge and is creased as a result, folded open for display, Very Fine despite the creased stamp, a spectacular Brooklyn local post rarity
