VERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE MULTIPLE OF THE 5-CENT BLUE LITHOGRAPH FROM STONE 2, SHOWING TWO TRANSFER GROUPS WITH VERTICAL GUTTER.
The C.S.A. Lithograph Issues (Scott 1-5) were produced from printing stones of 200 subjects, arranged in side-by-side panes of 100, with a vertical gutter between. Each of the left and right panes of 100 consisted of two transfers of the 50-subject transfer stone. Multiples crossing the vertical gutter that separated the left and right transfer units are rare, as the sheet of 200 was typically separated into panes of 100 before individual stamps or blocks were cut out.
Plating confirmed by Leonard Hartmann (Image)
VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A SCARCE UNUSED MULTIPLE FROM STONE 3.
Plating by Hartmann with his initials. Scott Retail as original-gum block of four and pair $6,250.00. Scott Retail as six no-gum singles (Image)
