4 c   imageUnited States Stampless covers 1833 "Alligator, E.F/14th Nov 1833" type I manuscript on FL addressed to "His Excellency W.P.Duval Gov Florida" in Tallahassee, with additional "12 1/2" notation, some light toning, otherwise v.f., this being the earliest recorded Alligator Territorial cover and the only one in private hands, ex-Thompson, Vernon Morris (William DuVal was appointed a territorial judge in 1822 at St. Augustine before President James Monroe appointed him governor of the Florida territory. He later was reappointed by Presidents Adams and Jackson.
