351 BOOK   imageUNITED STATES POSSESSIONS Canal Zone (39f) 1912 2c vermilion & black, center inverted, the unique unexploded booklet containing two booklet panes of six, perforated margins, both panes with center inverted and overprint reading down, clipped perforations at right and lightly stuck to the interleaving as expected, the booklet covers are remarkably fresh, with only a slight hint of handling wear, with 2004 PFC stating that it is "unused OG, handmade booklet pane of six, complete unexploded booklet of two panes, back cover inverted in relation to front cover; genuine with the panes adhering to the interleaving." A fabulous Canal Zone and booklet rarity, possibly the only unexploded booklet still extant. Less than 10 (!) intact panes are recorded and according to "Canal Zone Stamps" most were broken up and used as postage, ex-Joyce and Sagar collections (catalogued as two panes) cat. value $16000 (Image) (Image 2) (Image 3) (All Images)
