Gilbert, Paris; 1919; Printed; bound; French; 91 + 28 pag.; hardcover; very fine; The complete auction catalogue of the R. Marquelet sale of European postage stamps, organised by Gilbert in Paris (the same auctioneer who sold the Ferrary collection), in the beautiful original binding with the text and photo plates presented together under the same cover. The text section also contains all the prices achieved, very neatly written in pencil by someone who was clearly present in the room (although, judging by how clear and clean they are, this was most likely the room copy of a member of the organising staff), the collection itself contains many rarities that later became legendary (as is usually the case with important collections sold around this time), a real rarity and a trophy for any connoisseur's library.(Image 1)
