825 LIT imageAlbum of material related to the Jean de Sperati case (see description); Jean de Sperati; 1940s; Printed; bound; approx. 50 pag.; hardcover; very fine;" An extensive file on the case of Jean de Sperati, who needs no further introduction, including some truly exceptional items, such as the original expert report from December 1943 commissioned by the Court of Appeal in Chambéry and signed by Edmond Locard, which clearly states (and argues) that the stamps produced by Sperati are genuine. There are also several handwritten and signed letters from Sperati himself, drafts of some of his most important articles from the period of the trial, the first drafts for the articles promoting his 1947 book "La philatélie sans experts" (Philately without experts), as well as a wealth of newspaper articles from around the world reporting on the case. It is impossible to overestimate the importance and philatelic significance of this work. It has been methodically and carefully compiled and provides a unique insight into what is perhaps the most important "case" in philately."(Image 1) (Image 2)
