unused postcard depicting a partially submerged airplane "AMERICA" 1 July 1927, at Ver-sur-Mer France. The plane was piloted by the famous polar explorer RICHARD E. BYRD (& 2 others) on an early Trans-Atlantic flight. This flight by Richard Byrd was
noteworthy as it was only the 3rd airplane to cross the Atlantic non-stop after Lindbergh. Unable to land in Paris due to fog the plane ended up destroyed after it was ditched in water. F, not mailed but message on reverse. A SCARCE BYRD POSTCARD (Image)
