4348   imageStampless folded cover dated inside Montreal 24 April, 1786 addr to HONORABLE SAMUEL HOLLAND, Surveyor General at Quebec, rated "9" (currency - for distance 101-200 miles). On reverse has a VF complete 2-line MONTREAL APRIL: 24 datestamp (R. LOWE HS-24a, RF 'E' - RARE). This is a nice historical cover - Samuel Holland joined the British Army in 1756 & served during the SEVEN YEARS WAR. He was with GENERAL WOLFE when he died on the Plains of Abraham & worked with Capt James Cook. Holland was later appointed the first Surveyor General of British North America.
