Pre-stamp Trans-Atlantic letter from Geneva (New York) 10 Nov 1825 to Aberdeenshire, Scotland, then redirected to Edinburgh. Has scarce red boxed "SHIP LETTER
DEVONPORT" h/s. Has fascinating historical contents concerning an inquiry from a descendent of JOHN FORBES, EARL OF PITSLEGO SCOTLAND (he was a major figure in the JACOBITE REBELLION of 1745). The inquiry is from an American relative of Forbes
desiring to know if he could make a claim to the Forbes' estate. The family lost their estate in Virginia following the American Revolution as they were considered "aliens". F
