Accumulation of about 75 covers from one correspondence from Ottawa to Ohio/Virginia. All with House of Commons CDS's with a variety of dates. Normally Gov't mail was free within Canada but stamps were affixed as the addresses were outside of Canada. Majority have 3¢ Small Queens. Also has about 25 additional covers related to this correspondence (without House of Commons markings) but some with United States Consulate in Toronto, etc. Good lot for study. Typed letter (8 X 10.5 in) dated 9 Feb, 1959 hand signed in blue ink by DOUGLAS MACARTHUR, personally thanking the addressee for sending him birthday wishes. Although a controversial figure, General MacArthur is one of the most famous military leaders in American history. Some of his exploits are legendary incl wading ashore & his speech on the return to the Philippines in 1944.
