4787 imageJapan, Superlative Mint and Used Collection, 1871-1986, neatly mounted in an incredibly well-filled Minkus album, a gorgeous holding of Dragons to modern; mostly used to 1879, offering a range of cancel types (kensazumi, "seal", bota and other cork designs, towns, etc.), several of which are quite striking; from 1883 onwards, the vast majority are mint, generally lightly hinged to the early 1950s and never hinged thereafter, though numerous never hinged earlier stamps were found during our spot checks; among the highlights, we count (mint, unless noted) 1923 Earthquake Emergency set, #257-275, 276-279, all National Park singles, Parks sheets #283a, 288a, 318a, and 323a, along with 1950s' second series (numerous with original folders); #378a, 385a, 422a, 456, 457, 479a, 480-497; 1950-54 New Year Lottery souvenir sheets (Scott-footnoted), #521A-521B, #C1 (used), C3-C7, etc., etc., etc., including later se-tenants and souvenir sheets; a wealth of pretty material; note while viewing that discoloration on National Park souvenir sheets and Foreign Trade Fair sheet is due to their plastic "protectors", the items themselves clean, Very Fine overall, inspection invited; see a sampling online.
