3605 og O69 imageState Dept., 1873, $5 green & black (Scott O69), full fresh o.g. that has been lightly hinged at the top center only, a wonderful stamp with seldom-seen dark colors and a true proof-quality impression, Very Fine, ex 1992 Rarities sale and Little (9/29/2006) where the auctioneer stated that only 363 were issued, with 1991 P.F. certificate.
Scott $8,000.

Examples with lightly hinged original gum are scarce because many examples suffer from damage to the gum and are described as disturbed gum or large part or part original gum; combining the high quality of the gum and the absolutely gorgeous color qualify this stamp as worthy of a more aggressive bid.

Because only higher-quality stamps are submitted for grading, the P.S.E. Population Report shows two graded o.g. stamps, with the other grading F 70; accordingly, we expect spirited bidding for this stamp.
