3293 cover 100 imageDeutschland Military Mail, small cover from a sailor aboard the Deutchland to Hamburg, with a weak strike of the circular "S.M.S. Deutschland/ * U-Boots-Z.K. */ Briefstempel" handstamp; sender's return address includes "S.M.S. ‘Deutschland,' W'haven;" small corner repair, Fine to Very Fine. Illustrated on page 100 of the Handbook.


On 10 Feb 1917, the Deutschland was removed from civilian service, converted to use by the German Navy and stationed at Wilhelmshaven. Naval personnel's mail was marked by the mail clerk with the circular handstamp.
