788 cover   imageAll-over red and blue "Romeo & Juliet" Soldier's Farewell Valentine envelope, franked by US 1¢ Franklin (#18), the stamp centered to top showing clear and complete bottom balls, tied by "Salem O. Feb. 14" Valentine's Day circular datestamp and locally addressed, with multicolored enclosure of a love poem surrounded by wreath and two gold cupids with ornate lace overlay that folds up, opened at bottom and left, Choice Very Fine and an exquisite Civil War era Valentine franked with a #18 paying the local drop rate. A great rarity and an important item for the collector of the 1¢ 1857 issues; we highly doubt another example exists, with reduced photographic copy of 1971 P.F. certificate.

These covers are found in both red & blue, orange, red & bronze, red & bronze & blue. All are franked with the 3¢ 1861 issue. This is most likely unique as a locally addressed cover franked by the very scarce #18.
