3244 og 39b image1912, 2c Córdoba, vermilion & black, type II overprint, horizontal pair, left stamp without overprint (Scott 39b), the left pair in a full horizontal strip of 10 from the left half of a pane of 100, showing a bit of the tenth overprint on the right selvage, tropicalized o.g., bright, fresh and nicely centered; slight separation between 5th & 6th stamps, error pair with a light, insignificant natural gum bend, Very Fine. Only 10 pairs were produced. Ex-Crumpacker.

Included is a photocopy of a letter, dated September 25, 1915, from Washington D.C. stamp dealer, H.F. Colman, to Philadelphia collector, H.M. Justi, offering him the part-sheet of 80 from the original pane of 100, which had been sold to Colman that same day by a Mr. Clapp after he (Clapp) removed the top two rows (Clapp only collected blocks of 4). Colman is offering the entire block of 80 for $600, or $150 for either the top or bottom block of 20.
