Nyassa
LotNo. Symbol CatNo. Lot Description
2853   imageNyassa, "Rare Breed" More than Complete Mostly Mint Collection, 1891-1925, Calling this a complete collection would be the understatement of the year; this homemade endeavor mounted on quadrille pages goes way beyond the Scott listings, nailing not only the inverted centers and inverted & double overprints and surcharges, but also specimens, plate flaws, pairs imperforate between, and perf varieties. Begins with the scarce unofficial first set issued for the Cabo Delgado province of Mozambique and dubbed the "Rook" issue, and simply never lets up with a whole stack of certificates to back it up, such as certs for #44-46, 47-48, 63, 65, 83a, 92a-93a (blocks), etc. In addition, a counter book and two stockbooks of mostly mint and highly-organized stock with the 1901 pictorial issue and subsequent "Republica" overprints all sorted by perforation. It might be eons before we see a Nyassa collection even come close to this, and you can view the entire album online, generally Fine to Very Fine. Shipping charges apply - weight 14 lbs. Some better earlier material, like #605-09 (2 sets of SS, MiNr. Blocks 6 & 8), 629a (2), 645 (3 imperf SS, MiNr. Block 19), 691 (2 imperf SS MiNr. Block 25), 706 (2 SS, MiNr. Block 35), 751a (imperf), 857a (specimen), C315 (2), but emphasis is on the modern era, with many items in duplication but not crazy amounts, normally just one or two extras. One book can be viewed online, but be sure to check out our other offerings, as this is just part of the vast holdings from a former stamp dealer on the West Coast, whose meticulous work in organizing and identifying each item, along with condition and catalogue value, makes this an ideal lot for the reseller as all the work has already been done, Fine to Very Fine, at least $12,000 in total cat.
