1030 BKO 279Bk image1902, 2¢ red, type IV, booklet pane of 6, vertical watermark (Scott 279Bk), two wavy line machine cancels, fresh color on bright white paper, completely intact and sound, making this very rare used pane; a true condition rarity, Fine to Very Fine. Unpriced in Scott. Previously listed as #279Be, the 2007 Scott Specialized Catalogue was the first to list the horizontal watermark as #279Bj and the vertical watermark as #279Bk. The P.F. has certified two used as #279Be: one has the tab and faults and has been verified as #279Bj (ex Natalie Grace), the other is without tab and has faults and has not been checked for watermark orientation. The P.F. certified one used with a vertical watermark (with plate number 1369, sold in 2013 for $6,750; no others have appeared at public auction in the last decade).
