589   imageTurkey in Asia, Extensive Specialized Collection, 1920-22, the undoubted highlight is approximately 135 pages from the famous Dr. Pinar Ozand collection (presented to the highest research and exhibition standards), then a further specialized collection neatly written up in German housed in two binders, as well as a stockbook and loose pages with better values. There are studies of certain issues, complete sheets and large multiples, a wealth of varieties, cancellations with many on piece, parcel cards (36), money orders (7), and envelopes (25), including numerous rarities and postal history highlights, as listed below.


1920 handstamped surcharge "Post, Piastre 3"

  • Surcharged in black, 3pi. on 2pa. red lilac, variety first handstamped surcharge omitted (Scott 5 var. Michel 698 var.), being the left stamp in a horizontal pair, canceled by c.d.s., with 2010 Isfila certificate.

  • Surcharged in red, 3pi. on 2pa. violet vertical pair with lower stamp variety surcharge omitted (Scott 10 var. Michel 695 var.), unused, o.g., ex Max Mayo.

  • An excellent array including 1pi. on 1pi. carmine and blue sheet of 100, unused, and 1pi. green and red reconstructed sheet of fifty from three blocks, unused, o.g., parcel cards (6) and covers (3).


The Naval League labels include 1pa. sheet of 100 unused, 5pa. part sheet of 86 unused, and 40pa. unused and used (2), and there is a 1921 (Mar. 29?) registered envelope from the Director General of the Post Office in Ankara to the Director General of the Post Office in Istanbul (5.1) bearing on front and back 18 stamps franked as a representation of the current stamps available at the Ankara post office.


Also, 1922 "Osmanli Postalari/1338" overprints with two covers and various used pieces, Aintab Provisional unaddressed 1pi. on 20pa. postal stationery envelope bearing three of the surcharged values, Kilis Provisionals, and Feke Provisionals with various pieces.
