203 cover 11A image1852, 3¢ dull red, type II (Scott 11A), Position 51L1L (must be 1L because the plate number was not present on the early state of the plate), clear to full margins top and right, just into at bottom, with partial imprint and plate no. "3" in sheet margin at left, blue five-bar grid cancel and matching "Lyme N.H. Jul. 9" circular datestamp on folded letter datelined "Lyme July 8th 1852" to New Haven CT with letter discussing travel from Phildelphia to New York City by the "Cape May route" having left Tuesday morn and expecting to arrive Wednesday at 6AM and the journey continued through Albany and the Green Mountains (where the letter was mailed), Very Fine, Plate number copies are rare from any plate. They are especially difficult to find from Plate 3, because the plate number falls mostly between two stamps. It is only the presence of such a wide margin at top that allows this stamp to exhibit the plate number. (Image)
