587 cover 52 var image1918, 1c Balboa, green & black, type IV overprint, "…NE" only (Scott 52 var), with only a small bit of the "N" printed; the error is the left stamp in a pair with a normal overprint, tied by a Cristobal duplex handstamp, May 13, 1920, in a cover to Philadelphia; the cover is damaged at both ends, the normal stamp mostly missing due to careless opening at the right; nonetheless, a marvelous example of this unique error caused by a paper foldover during overprinting, Very Fine, with a 2013 A.P.S. certificate.
