Dargue in San Antonio where it was carried through Mexico, Central and South America and the West Indies with 34 stamps and cancels from "all nations of Central and South America and the West Indies," signed by surviving pilots Dargue, Eaker, Robinson, McDaniel, Weddington, Thompson, Fairchild and Whitehead (two aviators were killed when two planes collided attempting to land in Buenos Aires), cover with two 5-line boxed handstamp cachets -- blue "First Pan American Flight to all nations of Central and South America and the West Indies, 22,065 miles visitin glands of 24 countries. Major H.A. Dargue Air Corps Commander." and purple "All America Aircraft Display Bolling Field PO Sub Station Washington, D.C.", scarce and striking item in every respect, opened out for display, Very Fine to Extremely Fine cover.

806   imageU.S. Postal Agency in Cali, Colombia cover collection, approximately 240 covers (including 13 legal size or larger) from a variety of South American countries mostly to the US, a huge variety of frankings, many commercial mail, few consular mail, some interesting auxiliary markings, some registered, some censored, two with German origin, also includes two facing slips and a page of favor strikes of the Cali cancel, few faults as always, generally Fine to Very Fine, see the entire lot online.

Per the AAMC, "A U.S. Postal Agency under the supervision of the Canal Zone Director of Posts, was established at Cali because of schedule changes in air mail flights between Miami and various points along the western coast of South America that resulted in planes staying overnight in Cali. The Cali Agency neither sold nor cancelled stamps, but incoming mail from north and south was processed, including the backstamping of registered mail only.The agency was open from Sept. 1, 1940 to January 31, 1942." A copy of the page is included and notes the catalog values of the covers.

811   imageFirst Flights and Special Flights, approximately 2,000 mostly first flight covers that are well organized by flight in five 16 inch long plastic tubs, mostly 1918-1930's, a modest percentage are legal sized, one tub is absolutely stuffed with covers carried on the inaugural service return flight of the Pan-American operated FAM 5 plane piloted by Charles Lindbergh from Cristobal Canal Zone on February 10 arriving in Miami on February 13, including one signed by Col. John A. Hambleton, who served as Lindbergh's co-pilot and one of the three co-founders of Pan American; he died June 8, 1929 (four months later) in a plane crash in North Carolina, plus a legal sized cover franked by ½¢-$1.00 Ovpts. (70/95) and with 2c and 5c Panama Lindbergh labels, with most of the stamps uncancelled or tied by handstamps, and a second similar cover franked up to the 50c but with the stamps canceled, plus an additional 260 flown covers carried on the original southbound flight from Miami to Cristobal Canal Zone (departed Feb. 4 and arrived Feb. 6) also flown by Lindbergh and Hambleton, these FAM 5 covers have a very wide variety of frankings and recipients and senders, also includes 25 legal sized covers dated Oct. 18, 1918 (13 are subscription, 4 have signed notes to CZ PMG Bliss including 2 with original TLS by Bliss and one with signature of Panama Canal Governor Chester Harding), 3 covers Oct. 4 1920 including one with facing slip and the original mail pouch seal that carried mail on the failed flight, 3 covers from the Apr. 9, 1923 hydroplane mail to New Orleans, additional signed flight covers including the unique letter carried in Naval Patrol Plane XF2H-1 on non-stop flight from Norfolk VA to Coco Solo C.Z. on 15 & 16 January 1935 (see the handwritten note on the back of the imaged cover), cover signed by Pan Am pilot R.O.D. Sullivan, and 12 interrupted mail (crash) covers from the Aug. 3 1937 accident in the waters near the Canal Zone with some newspaper clippings, and much more including three Apollo 8 rescue and recovery signed covers, a German Zeppelin flown card, a few letters and photographs (obviously) heavy duplication among the more common flight covers, few faults as always on quantities of 75-100 year old flight covers, generally Fine to Very Fine, view the highlights online. The cover was flown to Havana where it was intended to board the Zeppelin, but since the planned stop in Havana was canceled, the cover was taken by ship to Seville, where it received the red Spanish Zeppelin cachet and was carried on the final leg from Seville to Friedrichshafen.
