Accumulations
LotNo. Symbol CatNo. Lot Description
182   imageMassive Extreme Back-of-the-Book Hoard, 1860s-1960s, filling a large box full of just about any interesting item you can think of, much of which is not Scott listed and some of which you may even have trouble finding in Springer. This will really be a treasure hunting lot as it is completely unorganized and will need several hours of sorting just to get into an order which can be properly broken down. We can assure you, there is so much to be found here. After just a quick browse, we found the following areas of interest and highlights: O14 used, a small box filled with approximately a couple dozen unsorted official stamps from various departments, 117P3 block of four, sections of first issue revenues with some higher denominations, quite a few scattered consulars, 60+ stamped bank check, revenue stamped bank checks and other stamped paper documents from 1860's-1890's, five officially sealed sheets, 18 express stamps, a glassine packed with older Exposition labels, a dozen black stock pages and a dealer counter book filled with tear sheets of Philatelic Show labels, several savings bonds books, an interesting partial pad of unused Director's Certificates of Tax-Payment of Distilled Spirits for Shipment in Tank Cars, Tank Trucks or Pipelines, group of Minstrel show ephemera, several sporting event tickets (mostly baseball), 100's of private die proprietary stamps, a couple Vario pages of progressive color Christmas seals, group of various state tax stamps (liquor, feed, insurance, citrus, cigarette, sales, etcetera), a few dead letter office stamps, group of unidentified Liquor / Beer stamps, R.F. overprint collection with stamps as well as used and unused covers, Feb 12 1935 Macon Crashed cover, 6 May 1937 Hindenburg Explodes cover, a stock book of manila pages of well over 200 tobacco stamps (with cigar, cigarette, snuff and even a few liquor stamps), group of various ration coupons. Of course, condition is mixed as you should expect, but we are sure you will agree, there is something to be found here for any serious collector who enjoys delving into the deep specialized waters of U.S. philately, Fine to Very Fine overall. 183   imageJam-Packed Coil Accumulation, 1910s-2010s, filling a very large box and a smaller box with coils of various sizes, with pairs, plate number strips of five, larger strips, partial coils and complete coils. This lot is particularly daunting to figure as there are so many random sizes of coils. It is really for the brave of heart. Inside, there are several massive partial rolls of lower denomination modern issues from the 2010's in larger rolls of hundreds to many thousands. There are three smaller boxes filled with stamps are rolled into larger strips in medicine bottles and film canisters along with some occasional test coil rolls. There are USPS retail packs and occasionally some of these packs are opened and packed with dozens of coil strips. There are priority mail envelopes packed with strips, a stockbook filled with coil strips of five from transports to the 32c denomination, album pages of earlier Washington / Franklins, etcetera. You really need to view this one to properly evaluate because words (or even photos) cannot adequately describe how much value is here in the short amount of time allotted to describe this lot, Fine to Very Fine overall. 185   imageMint & Used Collections & Accumulation with High Aggregate Face, 1870-2001, Ten albums and as many stockbooks, heavy on the mint with at least four binders of plate blocks with many 100's including varying plate numbers & positions. Coils are also in abundance here, from a cigar box with a dozen or so complete rolls to a stockbook of PNCs. There's also a box of complete booklets and individual panes, manila file folders of partial sheets, annual mint sets from USPS from 1971-79, and hundreds of FDCs from the 60's & 70's. Some higher denomination face, such as almost 400 copies of the $1 Eugene O'Neill coil stamp and some higher in catalogue value too, from a sizeable offering of mint from the fourth bureau issue to complete plate blocks of the Presidential series. Nevertheless, difficult to ascertain how much face is actually here and for this reason, needs to be reviewed on-site, overall Fine to Very Fine. Shipping charges apply - weight 110 lbs. (Image)

186   imageDuplicates from a Superior Quality Collection, 1850's-1980's, in 18 albums or stockbooks filled with the typical Flotsam one usually encounters in a balance lot, but this lot has some strong potential because as the collector filled in his high-quality stamps, he moved the duplicates over to these stockbooks leaving behind some really great singles if you have the patience to go through everything, although most of the value is in two stockbooks. In addition, the collector was working on the back of the book section, but did not get around to acquiring pages, so there are some lovely back of the book stamps which never made it into the main collection. Some better items we noticed as we browsed included - mint: 211, 230-40, 302, 304-7, 329, 337-39, 341, 400, 401, 433, 692-701, C1, E1, E3, E5, E7 (2), E8, E11-13, F1, Q1-11, PS11b, PS12b, PS15 (2), WS2, WS7b, WS8b (2), WS11 and used: 9, 78, 154 and 239. Condition and centering are mixed as usual, but occasionally, there are also plenty of great stamps scattered about, generally Fine to Very Fine. Shipping charges apply - weight 60 lbs.
