3211 cover 10a image1862, 5c clear yellow green (Scott 10a), horizontal pair, two large margins, just touching at top & left, tied by one of two strikes of a mostly clear MILETO (Catania) c.d.s., 26 Sep 1862, on a folded cover to Catanzaro, backstamped Catanzaro the next day, Very Fine. A very rare early used of Sardinia stamps outside of Sardinia., signed Cardillo, with his 2018 "SPC" certificate noting that this is the only such usage that he has seen franked with a a pair of the 5c stamp.
Sassone 13D.


The stamps of Sardenia were to be used throughout the Neapolitan Provinces begining on Oct 1, 1862. This cover predates that date by five days.

A most attractive example of this rare used stamp, with a 1958 Oliva certificate.
